Question 1

How do I get a quote?

Accepted Answer

Use the quote funnel: route, vehicle, condition, equipment and contact details. It takes a couple of minutes and no payment information is requested.

Question 2

Why isn't there an instant price?

Accepted Answer

Because carrier pay varies by lane, week, season and equipment. A number generated before a coordinator reviews your route isn't a quote you can rely on; it's a placeholder that gets revised.

Question 3

How long is a quote valid?

Accepted Answer

The expiration date and time on your own offer control. The staff form defaults to a calendar date seven days ahead, but staff can choose or extend that date; it is not a promise of seven days from sending. Once it expires, request refreshed pricing for your current dates. For an accurately described shipment that remains unchanged, your booked price does not increase. If you request a change or vehicle details were incorrect, we explain any revised price and obtain your approval before proceeding.

Question 4

How do payment options work, and when am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Requesting a quote is free. Your offer shows only the payment options enabled for your shipment and the exact total for each. Card + cash: save a card at booking with $0 charged, then a coordinator charges the displayed booking amount plus selected upgrades after a carrier is assigned; the displayed cash balance is paid to the carrier at delivery. Card only: save a card with $0 charged at booking, then a coordinator charges that option's full total plus selected upgrades after carrier assignment, with no balance owed at delivery. If your offer includes pay-the-carrier booking, no online payment is collected; the full displayed amount is paid directly to the carrier under the confirmed payment terms. Saving a card is the charging method for the card options, not a separate price option.

Question 5

Can I get my money back if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You may cancel any time before your vehicle is picked up, even after a carrier is assigned. Everything you paid Velocity for that booking is refunded in full, whether it was a deposit or payment in full, with no cancellation fee, retained broker fee or processing-fee deduction. We use the actual cancellation-request and pickup times; missing or disputed pickup timing receives staff review rather than an automatic denial. Once pickup occurs, cancellation is no longer available, but that does not limit rights or remedies concerning damage, service failures or other applicable matters. Refunds return to the original payment method after staff initiates them; your bank or card issuer determines when they appear.

Question 6

Can you ship a vehicle that doesn't run?

Accepted Answer

Yes. What matters is whether it rolls, steers and brakes. If it does, a winch-equipped carrier can usually load it. If it doesn't, we source equipment built for that, which changes the price but not the answer.

Question 7

Do you handle salvage and collision vehicles?

Accepted Answer

Routinely, from auctions, insurance yards and body shops. Tell us about missing wheels, seized brakes, fluid leaks or a body that can't be strapped normally.

Question 8

Can I ship a motorcycle?

Accepted Answer

Yes, typically in enclosed equipment with chocks and soft straps. Crating is available on some lanes.

Question 9

Can I leave personal items in the vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Select the personal-items option on your offer and confirm the assigned carrier's weight, packing and prohibited-item requirements before loading. The first 100 lb is included at no charge; each additional pound is $1, subject to confirmed carrier restrictions. Your selected allowance and charge appear on the offer. Personal belongings are not insured under this option; remove valuables, documents and fragile items. Vehicle coverage is subject to the assigned carrier's policy, limits and exclusions.

Question 10

Can you move more than one vehicle at a time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from two up to a full load. Multi-vehicle moves are often more efficient per unit than shipping the same cars separately.

Question 11

How long does transport take?

Accepted Answer

Transit depends on distance, corridor density and the carrier's route. Cross-country moves commonly run about a week to ten days in transit; regional lanes are faster. We give you a realistic window and update you when it changes.

Question 12

Can you guarantee a specific date?

Accepted Answer

Not on standard service. Weather, traffic, inspections and multi-stop routing all move real schedules. Guaranteed dates require a specific guaranteed service purchased and confirmed in writing.

Question 13

What does door-to-door actually mean?

Accepted Answer

The carrier gets as close to your pickup and delivery addresses as is legal and physically safe for a 75-to-80-foot trailer. Where a street won't accommodate that, you meet the driver at a nearby wide lot.

Question 14

What happens at pickup and delivery?

Accepted Answer

The driver documents condition on a bill of lading at pickup. At delivery you inspect against that document before signing. Note anything new on the paperwork at that moment; it's the basis of any claim.

Question 15

How does booking and carrier assignment work?

Accepted Answer

You accept a written offer and choose a payment option. A coordinator then posts your shipment to qualified motor carriers and assigns one whose route and equipment fit your vehicle. You are told when a carrier is assigned, and the carrier transports your vehicle under its own operating authority.

Question 16

What is the difference between a pickup window and a confirmed pickup?

Accepted Answer

The date you give us is the start of a pickup window, not a set appointment. Once a carrier is assigned, the driver confirms a specific day or time range with you, usually by phone shortly before arrival. Standard service does not guarantee an exact date.

Question 17

How do you check a carrier's authority and insurance?

Accepted Answer

Before assigning a carrier, we verify its active FMCSA operating authority and review a current insurance certificate, including its expiration date, coverage limits and exclusions. Velocity arranges transport with an independent motor carrier. Ask your coordinator for the assigned carrier's authority and insurance details before pickup. Coverage depends on that carrier's policy, limits, deductibles and exclusions; it is not a blanket coverage guarantee from Velocity. Personal belongings are not insured under the personal-items option.

Question 18

How should I compare car shipping quotes?

Accepted Answer

Compare the total you will actually pay, how and when each part is charged, whether the price is written and dated, the cancellation and refund terms, open versus enclosed equipment, and whether the company is a broker or carrier with numbers you can look up. A much lower price can mean no carrier accepts the job at that rate. Our competitive quote review lets you send us another written quote to compare.

Question 19

Are you a carrier or a broker?

Accepted Answer

Velocity Auto Transport arranges transportation as a transportation broker and coordinates shipments with independent motor carriers. We do not own trucks.

Question 20

What are your registration numbers?

Accepted Answer

Velocity Auto Transport Group LLC is an FMCSA-authorized auto transport broker operating under MC-53083442 and USDOT 4883480. We are a broker, not a motor carrier; the assigned carrier transports your vehicle under its own authority.

Question 21

Where do your reviews come from?

Accepted Answer

We publish reviews only from verified customers through an approved review platform. Until those exist, this site shows no ratings, review counts or shipment totals rather than inventing them.

Question 22

Which areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

The 48 contiguous states, including rural and low-volume lanes. Alaska, Hawaii and international moves involve additional partners; ask us before assuming a route is available.
