Why lanes price differently
Carriers run loops, not one-way errands. A lane with heavy traffic in both directions fills quickly and prices competitively; a lane that is busy one way and empty the other costs more in the popular direction because the driver has to earn the return trip. Seasonality also matters. Snowbird swings between Florida and the Northeast and Midwest are the clearest example. The same route can behave very differently in March than in July.
