A large share of Iowa is rural farmland, and while the state's grid of section roads generally provides decent access, a full-size carrier may still find some farm driveways or gravel roads impractical, especially after rain when unpaved roads soften. Iowa winters bring real snow and cold, particularly from December through February, and can occasionally slow highway travel or delay a pickup by a day during an active storm.
