What door-to-door really means
A door-to-door move means the carrier comes to a location you choose for pickup and takes the vehicle to a location you choose for delivery, rather than routing through a freight terminal. It does not guarantee the truck can physically enter your specific street or driveway. An 80-foot rig cannot navigate every neighborhood, so the practical delivery point is often as close as the truck can safely maneuver.
Why a nearby meeting point is sometimes used
Low-hanging branches, tight cul-de-sacs, weight-restricted roads, HOA rules and narrow residential streets can all keep a full-size car carrier from reaching a specific address. When that happens, the driver typically calls ahead to arrange a nearby meeting point, such as a wide street, a shopping center lot, or another open area a few minutes from the original address. This is a routine part of coordinating transport, not a change to the service itself.
Access constraints to think through before booking
Consider the width of your street, whether it dead-ends, whether trucks are already restricted on it, and how a large trailer would turn around. Gated communities, downtown addresses and rural roads with low bridges or narrow shoulders are the situations most likely to need an alternate meeting point. Mentioning these details when requesting a quote lets us brief the assigned carrier ahead of time.
Handoff and paperwork at pickup
At pickup, the carrier's driver inspects the vehicle and documents its condition on a bill of lading, which both you and the driver sign. Have your keys, registration information and any personal authorization ready, and be available at the agreed location and window, since drivers are usually coordinating several stops on the same route.

At delivery, walk around the vehicle with the driver before signing anything, comparing its condition against the pickup bill of lading. Note any discrepancy directly on the paperwork before you sign, since that document is the primary record if a dispute over condition comes up later. Keep a copy for your own records.
Who can accept or release the vehicle
If you cannot be present in person, you can typically authorize another adult to accept or release the vehicle on your behalf, but that person should know to do the same inspection and keep copies of the paperwork. Let us know in advance if someone other than you will be handling either end of the move.
