Height, length and width basics
Standard trailers have finite space per vehicle, and a full-size truck or large SUV takes up meaningfully more of that space than a sedan. Give accurate measurements or at minimum the exact trim and configuration of your vehicle so the carrier can plan trailer space correctly, rather than assuming a generic 'truck' fits the same slot as any other.
Dually width considerations
Dual rear-wheel trucks are noticeably wider than single rear-wheel trucks, which can affect lane positioning on a multi-car trailer and, in some cases, narrow which carriers can accommodate the vehicle at all. Mention if your truck is a dually specifically, since it's a meaningfully different loading situation than a standard pickup.
Lifted trucks and racks
A lifted suspension changes overall height, which matters both for trailer ramp clearance and for whether the vehicle fits within legal height limits when loaded on certain trailer positions. Roof racks, bed racks and other permanent add-ons should also be disclosed, since they add to the vehicle's effective height and length.
Roof boxes and bed covers
A roof box adds height and may need to be removed depending on the carrier and trailer position assigned. Hard or soft bed covers generally don't complicate loading much on their own, but mentioning them avoids any surprise about what's inside the bed being visible or not during inspection.
How size affects equipment and slot availability
Larger trucks and SUVs sometimes need to be loaded on specific trailer positions — often the top rack has different height allowances than the bottom — which means not every truck fits on every available trailer the same way. This can narrow which specific carriers have room for your exact vehicle on a given route.
Oversized acceptance is case-by-case
Some combinations — a lifted dually with a large bed rack, for instance — may fall outside what a standard multi-car carrier can accommodate at all. Whether an oversized configuration can be transported, and what it requires, is assessed individually based on the actual dimensions rather than assumed to work the same as a standard trim.
