I-55, I-59 and I-20 carry the bulk of long-haul traffic

I-55 runs north-south through Jackson toward Memphis and New Orleans, I-59 crosses the southeast part of the state toward Mobile and Birmingham, and I-20 runs east-west through Jackson connecting to Louisiana and Alabama. Vehicles near these corridors generally see quicker carrier matching than those in more rural central or northern counties.

The Delta and rural central Mississippi

The Mississippi Delta and much of the state's rural interior are made up of small towns connected by two-lane highways, where a full-size carrier sometimes can't safely reach a specific rural address. A nearby highway pull-off or town's main street commonly serves as the meeting point, which keeps the shipment straightforward without limiting which carriers can take the job.

Heat, humidity and open transport

Mississippi's hot, humid climate for much of the year is a normal condition for open-transport shipments and doesn't affect the vast majority of vehicles moved this way. Enclosed transport remains an option for classic cars or anything especially sensitive to sun and moisture over a multi-day haul.

The Gulf Coast's casino and tourism industry, along with steady relocation into the Jackson metro, generates a mix of household and business-related vehicle shipments. Preparing a Mississippi vehicle for shipment

Regardless of which part of the state a shipment starts in, the basics stay the same: wash the vehicle so any existing damage is visible, remove personal belongings, leave roughly a quarter tank of fuel, and photograph the car from all angles before the carrier arrives. Compare the vehicle to those photos at delivery and note any discrepancy on the bill of lading before signing.
